Kota is the third largest city in Rajasthan state which is also an education hub. Students from every corner of India come to study here. A city that was earlier known only as an education hub has today made its mark as one of the popular tourist destinations. Situated on the banks of the Chambal River, Kota City is famous for its distinctive style of paintings, palaces, museums, and places of worship.
I enjoyed visiting this city recently and believe me, this city will not disappoint you at all. I spent about 5 days in this city and roamed around in the streets of this city. This city is traffic-light free and here at every circle I got to see different types of artwork like boats, elephants, Krishna giving the knowledge of Geeta to Arjun, etc. which were really amazing to the eyes.
The city is known for gold jewelry, Kota Doria sarees and salwar suits, silk sarees, and the famous Kota stone. My sister gifted me a Kota Doria suit. And how can I forget the delicious Kota Kachori? It is so tasty and savory.

Places to Visit in Kota in 3 Days
You can visit the top places of Kota in 3 days and make your trip memorable, enjoy your best time with your family, friends, or loved ones. So without wasting time, let’s check out some of the places in Kota that will make you amazed and your mind will explore.
1. Maa Trikuta Temple
This holy temple of Maa Trikuta, synonymous with Maa Vaishno Devi, is a wonderful pilgrimage place for devotees. The beauty of this temple is worth seeing. The beauty of this temple is further enhanced by its entrance gate which has two huge lions and elephants on either side. When you enter inside, you will see the grand and huge idol of Lord Shiva.
The way to enter the temple is very pleasant. When you enter the cave, you will get goosebumps, it will feel as if you have reached a wonderful world. There is an idol of Maa Vaishno Devi in the main sanctum which completely resembles the original idol of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at Katra. You have to cover your head when you pay your reverence to Goddess Trikuta.

2. City Park (Garden of Joy)
The recently constructed City Park (Garden of Joy) adds a new attraction to Kota City. City Park has been developed over an area of 30 hectares at Rs. 120 crores with many attractions like a botanical garden, flower street, beautiful gardens, kids zone, bird aviary, bridges, duck pond, shikhara boats, open gym, amphitheater, food court, etc. will charm you and your family.
I stepped into the city park along with my family around 4 or 4.15 pm. Since that day was Sunday hence it was crowded. We had food packets that didn’t let us take inside. So, we got a little desperate because it was our first time to visit the park. Anyway, we got back our food packets to our car and then entered the park.
We wanted some relaxation so sat on chairs which were placed just a few steps away from the entrance and had some tea. After that, enjoyed the park, clicked photos, and cherished memories. Enjoy the beautiful night views of the glasshouse, oval-shaped aviary, duck pond, etc. You can enjoy live concerts, music shows in the open theatre (if happening).

3. Chambal River Front
The spectacular Chambal River Front, built over a length of 2.75 km between Kota Barrage to Nayapura Pulia on the Chambal River showcases a glimpse of the royal heritage and architecture of Rajasthan to its tourists. The first-ever heritage River Front of India has 26 ghats have been constructed on both sides. These ghats have been built on different themes and represent a unique architectural style of India.
Three gates have been made to enter River Front and all are decorated with different statues, and architecture that will mesmerize. You can pick any gate and enter.
As soon as you enter the main gate, a person dressed in Rajasthani attire welcomes you by playing flute. After this, as you move ahead, different types of architecture will mesmerize you and artists will entertain you. The huge idol of Chambal Mata will not let you take your eyes off it, here you can capture a good photo and cherish it. The main attraction here is the fountain show which starts at exactly 8 o’clock and lasts for 15 minutes. Different colorful lights and amazing music will definitely take you to a different world.

4. Chambal Garden
Chambal Garden is a beautiful picnic spot where you can enjoy peace in the lap of exquisite greenery. Situated on the banks of the Chambal River, this place is one of the most popular in Kota city. You can enjoy the amazing boat ride that you can take on the Chambal River near the Forest Office Ghat which is the main attraction here. Here you can hire photographers and get the pictures clicked, then they will prepare the hard copy and give it to you in 15-20 minutes.

5. Seven Wonders’ Park
According to the name, you must have understood. Yes, the Seven Wonders of the World are located in one place. Is that possible? Yes, absolutely. Kota’s Seven Wonders Park offers you a chance to visit all the seven wonders of the world together. This park features miniature versions of all the seven wonders of the world. Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Pyramids of Giza, The Statue of Liberty, The Colosseum, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, and Christ the Redeemer. Apart from them, you get to see amazing greenery here which allows you to relax here.

6. Garadiya Mahadev Temple
A place that will mesmerize you with its captivating views and this place is none other than – Garadiya Mahadev Temple. This temple is situated near the Chambal River. This place will truly give you spectacular views, and won’t disappoint you. It has the most breathtaking views of the Chambal River, Valleys, and Plains which is truly heaven-like. The road is bumpy and rough, if you want, you can take the car directly to the temple on foot which is just 1.5 km away.
You can choose whatever suits you. We chose to go on foot so that we could enjoy the journey and reach the temple. We captured some photos at this breathtaking site and then headed to the temple by descending some stairs where we pay our reverence to Lord Shiva.

7. Abheda Palace
Abheda Palace offers a glimpse of affluent history. Built by Maharaja Umed Singh II, this palace situated on the banks of the Chambal River boasts magnificent architecture and is considered one of the most beautiful tourist places in Kota. Maharaja had built this beautiful palace for his queen so she could rest there. There is a pond inside the palace which is laden with lotus flowers and turtles. This pond used to be home to many crocodiles which are treated as pets and also given names. You can enjoy boating here along with your family. These boats aren’t motor boats you have to drive them on your own foot. And by the way, driving them has its own fun.
If you’re fond of history and heritage then this palace must be on your list. Main attractions of Abheda Palace: Migrant Birds, a Pond, a Garden, An Ancient Well, and the Queen’s Palace.

8. Kota Barrage
If you want to feed the fish and pigeons and see the splendid views of the Chambal River, then Kota Barrage offers you all this. We headed there when it was drizzling lightly and this was really a great experience which I couldn’t tell you in words. Kota Barrage Project was built to store the water of three dams Rana Pratap Sagar Dam, Jawahar Sagar Dam, and Gandhi Sagar Dam. Here people gather to enjoy the glimpse of white frothing water flowing in full force. You can also call it home to pigeons too. Capture beautiful moments here along with your family while soaking in the views of the Chambal River.

How to Reach Kota
Kota is well-connected to major cities in India. You can get there either by Air, Bus or Train according to your choice.
By Air: If you’re coming from another city (far away from Kota) or country then you should choose to travel by air. By this, you can save time and enjoy a lot of attractions in this city. Kota has no airport so you have to come to Jaipur by air and then head to Kota either by train, bus, or taxi
By Train: Kota is well connected via train. I love train journeys, so I chose this option as it is convenient and easy-going. I booked my train tickets for the Jaipur Mumbai Superfast train, which takes only three and a half hours to reach Kota.
By Bus: You can come here by Bus as the city is accessible by bus throughout the country. Book your tickets from the renowned travel agency so that you may have not any trouble during your journey.
By Car: If you like road trips then a car is the best option. You can stop anywhere and take some rest meanwhile your journey.
Getting around Kota
To visit Kota you can book a cab or tuk-tuk or you can contact tour companies who offer you half-day or full-day sightseeing tours at good rates.
Where to Eat in Kota
There are a lot of eateries available in Kota. We tried different restaurants during our trip. Kota is famous for its Kota Kachori, Dal-baati-churma, Mawa Kachori, and many more. I relished different food at different eateries.
Where to Stay in Kota
If you are looking for luxury or budget-friendly hotels in Kota there is no dearth of great accommodation options. Since my sister lives here with her family I didn’t need to book a hotel.
