When I used to see people flaunting the site of Garadia Mahadev Temple on Instagram Reels, I was filled with wonder as to which place this is, looks so beautiful, so enchanting, and when I read the caption, there was no limit to my surprise that this site is not anywhere else but in a famous city of in my state Rajasthan which is known for studies – Kota.

Then what, a desire arose in my mind to visit this place. I had decided in my mind that I want to go there, so my wish was fulfilled on December 26, 2023, it was that wonderful day when I stepped into Garadiya Mahadev Temple along with my siblings. Being situated on the banks of the Chambal River, Garadiya Mahadev is a popular site dedicated to Lord Shiva. The calm and serene environment here attracts many travelers.

The path to reach here is also really exciting. There is less crowd on the road, so you can drive your vehicle without any hassle. I reached here with my brother by scooter and my sisters by car. Despite wearing a jacket and covering my head with a stole, I was feeling windy, but I was having a lot of fun as I had only one desire in my mind – to spend time at Garadia Mahadev. The 3 km path is kuchha and bumpy so you need to be careful whether you are going on a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler.

There’s a ticket counter one and a half kilometers before Garadiya Mahadev Temple, where you must obtain a permit to take your vehicle (two-wheeler or four-wheeler) to the temple. You can reach the temple on foot too. Choose whatever suits you. We chose to go on foot so that we could enjoy the path and reach the temple.

We captured some beautiful pictures meanwhile while heading to this breathtaking site. And then as soon as we reached there, our eyes were wide open with surprise, because what was in front of us was truly a miracle of nature.

Soothing Vibes at Garadiya Mahdev

Garadia Mahadev, situated in the hills of Mukundara, about 25 to 30 kilometers from Kota city, not only gives a feeling of peace but also offers stunning views of the Chambal River. Nature lovers love to come here to spend a memorable time, making it one of the most popular places in Kota for tourists. This temple is situated on a cliff at a height of 500 meters above sea level.

This place has the most breathtaking views of the Chambal River, Valleys, and Plains which is truly heaven-like. If you really want to feel this place then come here on foot. It will take you only 15-20 minutes to reach the temple. We enjoyed this place at the bottom of our heart. While heading to the temple, we saw unique colors of nature on the way which we could hardly see by car.

Bumpy and Rough Path at Garadiya Mahadev

We filled our bottles with fresh water coming from Gaumukh. Despite it being the month of December the water was lukewarm. After offering prayers and admiring the wonderful view of the Chambal River from the temple, we came out.

Here you will see monkeys sitting on trees and boulders. They don’t bother you but if you’re bringing food along with you then I’m sure they won’t let you enjoy your food because the smell of the food will attract them and they will hover around you which may bother you.

After cherishing beautiful memories, we set off towards our destination. This place is a little remote and away from any regular tourist spot. If you’re a nature lover like me then you can spend hours here to behold its spectacular views. If you are looking for peace, blessings, the grandeur of nature, and privacy then this place is a must for you.

If you are coming here with the hope of being like a famous pilgrim, then this place is completely opposite to that. There are neither any Prasad shops nor any restaurants here.

You will get to see a lot of greenery here during the rainy season but make sure you reach here as soon as the rainy season starts as the path can be slippery.
